Documents required for Study Visa in Germany
Visa for 90 days or less stay
Studying a programme that lasts less than 90 days for instance global immersion, you do not need to apply for a student visa. However, if you plan to study in Germany for a period of longer than 90-days, you will need to apply for a student visa that lasts between 3 and 6 months. In addition, you will need to apply for a Residence Permit which you can obtain at the Foreign Registration Office.
Documents Required for German Visa
Prepare your finances first: Foreign students are encouraged to open up a blocked bank account in Germany, where you deposit around 1000 Euros per month of living expenses for 12 months, approx. Euros 12000.
The block account is an assurance that you are able to afford your studies and also living expenses. You will get this money back equally on monthly basis.
Please be also prepared to pay 1 year of tuition fee, we can help with education finance if required in some countries.
English Language Test: Yes, in Germany you will require English Language Test. Accepted Scores:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Accepted results are PbT (paper-based test) 550 Points, CbT (computer-based test) 213 Points and IbT (internet-based test) 79-80 Points.
- The International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Accepted scores by German universities are 5 – 6.5.
Other documents required:
- A certificate of health insurance
- A valid passport
- 3 passport photos (with biometric specifications)
- Proof of covered finances
- Letter of admission from a University in Germany
- Academic degree and marksheets from Grade 10th onwards
Additional Documents for Indian and Chinese Students:
- APS Certificate
- Only for Bachelor Students: State preparatory college ‘Studienkolleg’. A course you’ll have to undertake as a foreigner whose school-leaving certificate isn’t recognised in Germany. Once completing the course, you’ll be sitting the test “Feststellungsprüfung”.
- TestAS: The TestAS serves as a centralised standardised assessment of scholastic aptitude, focusing on key intellectual capacities essential for success in university education in Germany.
